Pj Day

Have you ever had a teacher serve you hot chocolate before? We have! Today we watched a movie in room 21 with Ms. Locke's, Ms. Pinsch's, Mrs. Nayyar's classes and our class. The teachers served us hot chocolate while we watched The Grinch. We watched a short film called 'Olaf's Frozen Adventure' first. Today Ms. Fagnan handed out Christmas pictures and some people drew and Ms. Fagnan loved all of them. We watched the Christmas Concert and all the grade 3's loved it. Christmas concert is tomorrow! It begins at 9:30am for the daytime performance and 6:30pm for the evening. Students are asked to come at 6pm Tomorrow is our last day of school before the Christmas break! Art cards

"We are going to make some cards for art" Ms. Fagnan told the class. Today in art, we made a card and went way back into preschool and did some finger painting. Then we wrote something inside of it and added a picture if we wanted. We missed math today because of our concert practice. We had gym in the grand hall. Ms. Brady explained that one person in our group would be a tree and the rest of the group had to do different movements to go and decorate the tree. At the end Ms. Fagnan had to judge the best tree. For reader's theatre we went to 6 different classes and performed. We got lots of great feedback and compliments. Tomorrow is PJ day. We get to watch a movie and have hot chocolate. Please bring your own mug. A school messenger went out yesterday about the hot chocolate, if you DO NOT want your child to have hot chocolate please email Ms. Fagnan, otherwise permission is assumed. Pajama Day!

"Ha ha ha" went room 15 during the movie. We watched a movie called Polar Express in the gym. We always watch it on PJ day. Before we went to the movie we did art. In art, we finished our diya's. If you made a snowflake last time, then you will get to take it home and you had to make a diya. If you made a diya or a kinara, you got to make a different kind of snowflake. On Wednesday, since room 15 won student vs. teacher we get to wear our pajama's to school again and have a special grade three only movie Friday the 20th is no school and is the start of Christmas holidays Thursday is our Christmas concert, students are asked to come at 6pm Have a great weekend

Ms. Jones Leaves

"Thank you room 15" read Ms. Jones. At blog time Ms. Jones read us a card she wrote us. Today we did Ms. Jones time. We played heads-up 7-up. Connor stayed up the whole game. In gym, we played a game where Santa tagged us and the elves would rescue us. Mrs. Brady would tap us on the shoulder to write our name on the poster for Mrs. Grieve. Today we sang Christmas Carols: We wish you a merry Christmas, Rudolph, and Jingle Bells. We had a Christmas dance party and we had a dance circle.  Tomorrow is PJ day. You do not have to dress up. You can bring a small stuffie that can fit in your lap. Do not bring slippers.  Have a great rest of your day. Reader's Theatre

Flip, flip went the pages of the reader's theatre books. In reader's theatre we finally showed the class our scripts and performed. Then the class gave us feedback, either things they liked or things we could work on. Today in social studies we went to Mrs. Nayyar's class and Ms. Mclaughlin showed us a slideshow about when she went to Peru. After we got to touch things that she brought and some things that Ms. Fagnan had from when she went to Peru. In math, we worked on our diamond sheets again. If we finished 9/3, we got to go on to 42/7. PJ day is on Friday We are still accepting non-perishable food items for the Mayor's food drive Ms. Jones last day is tomorrow 😢😢😢😢😢 Have a great day

Caroling

"All the people that have Santa hats come up to the front!" shouted Mrs. Laythorpe.  Today we sang caroling songs. Robert's favorite song we sang was Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer. In music, we had a substitute so we didn't get to use instruments but we practiced our song. Later in the day we practiced again in Mrs. Nayyar's room. During math we practiced division. We made a diamond sheet in our books and showed a few different ways to do division. On Friday December 13th, we are having PJ day. Wear clean PJ's to school on Friday if you would like. Please leave stuffies and slippers at home.  Honey is sold out! Thanks to everyone who helped support the fundraiser. Coventry Cares will decide how to spend the money in the New Year Ms. Jone's last day is Thursday. We are trying very hard to make her stay :) 

Starting Caroling in the Gym

"Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer... ♪♪" sang the whole school. The first thing we did today when we came in was we went caroling in the gym and we sang the same songs as last year. In social studies, we did 20 or more facts about Peru. In math, we did some more division and we could choose to work in partners, with blocks or a lot of different options. In gym, we played fitness games like we played with dice and fitness cards and more.  Honey sales have started. Supplies are limited and it is getting close to being sold out. If you would like some act fast! Dress for the weather The Christmas concert is on Thursday Dec. 19th at 9:30 am and 6:30 pm. Students are asked to come at 6pm For caroling, you can wear any festive hats or clothing The last day of school before the Christmas is Dec. 19th New spelling words went home today. Students will be tested on this weeks words and last weeks words on Friday List One; Kwanzaa, Diwali, Christmas, celebration, blizzard ...

Ms. Jones Teaches Art

Cut, cut, cut went the scissors as Ms. Jones showed a group how to make snowflakes. In art we made Diyas, Kinaras and snowflakes. We made them for our Christmas concert to put up in the gym. In genius hour we finally taught the other class how to use i-Movie and we love it. We had our spelling test today and we had 5 different words. Some people went to Ms. Nayyar's class, some stayed here and some went with Ms. Jones.  During buddies we read our buddies Christmas books. Some of the books were from the library and some were from their room.  Next week we will begin caroling, if you would like to wear festive colors or hats you can Our Christmas concert date is Dec. 19th. Students are ask to be at school for 6pm for the evening concert Book Orders are due today Have a great weekend!

Sensei Comes

"Wow!" went the whole class as they saw that Sensei was here in our classroom. Today we read a book that the Sensei brought and it was called the "North Pole Ninjas: Mission Christmas." At recess he moved somewhere else and wrote mission complete 💕Sensei. Today we made a sticky note and we wrote something nice on it to another person in the school and put it on their classroom door or in their boots. In language arts we started readers theatre. One is called the Bob, The Goofy Reindeer, another was called Olive, The Other Reindeer and the last one was called the Gingerbread Before Christmas. In science, we played Jeopardy about rocks and minerals and what we knew. Honey is soon going to be sold. It starts on Monday. Supplies are limited. It is $5 a jar Do good deeds for others and do it secretly, not because you want praise  Book orders are due on Friday Have a great day!

Loooooooong Music

"We are going to have a double music for our Christmas concert practice" announced Ms. Fagnan. Today in music, we had a double long music because it is getting closer to the Christmas concert and we really have to practice. In gym, we played a game called dinosaur tag. There are different dinosaurs: the raptors (had a partner and tagged with them), a T-rex( had a bean bag but couldn't tag anyone standing still), dilophosaurus (rolled the balls at people), triceratops (helped people). In the second round there was time machines. If you stood in a time machine you couldn't be tagged but you could only stay for 5 seconds. If you went in a time machine you went back to the real world but after 5 seconds you came back to dinosaur world. Making Dragons

Scratch, scratch went the moving pencil as we drew a dragon. Today in language arts we drew our own dragon. Some of the dragons we made were sky dragons, mountain dragons and even an elemental food dragon that had Pepsi lightning and a chicken nugget shield. In science, we did an experiment with a sugar cube but we didn't get to finish it. We had to shake it 200 times and then we would see how many corners lost their color. We were learning about erosion. In gym, we started something new which was some tag games and other games too. We started a new game today call teachers vs. students and if the students win they get a surprise and if the teachers win there is no surprise. We get points by doing good deeds, lining up quickly and quietly, working hard, coming to discussions quickly and other things too! Honey fundraiser starts on the 9th, bring $5 cash if you would like to purchase a jar It is encouraged to practice spelling, we got new words today and the quiz will on Friday...
