Image
"Boooooooo!" yelled the class. Today we at silent reading we did a halloween word search and crossword. In art, we made a bat picture. First we painted a our moon and then we did a light blue, than darker blue and then black to make the sky. After that we glued 1, 2 or 3 bats on top. In gym, we played some halloween games. we got to play 3 different games. In one game we had a partner and a ball in between us. If Ms. Brady said grab it you had to grab the ball but if she said something else and you grabbed it you lost a point. We got to wear our costumes at school today!! No school tomorrow Our remembrance day ceremony will be on November 8th at 10:30. Our class will be performing and parents are welcome to attend. In science, we used vinegar on our rocks to see if they bubbled or not. If they were bubbling they contained calcite and if there was no bubbles, then they didn't contain calcite. In math, we used 24 blocks to make a square or rectangle without any extra left over.  Tomorrow is class photo day Thursday is Pumpkinella. You can wear your costume if you want! Have a great rest of your day

No Sharing our Writing Today

"We don't have time to share our writing today" explained Ms. Fagnan. Today in writing we wrote or drew in our writing journal. Ms. Fagnan said we didn't have time to share because we just spent too much time writing! In word work we went on the chrome books and went to our blog to the notices section where Ms. Fagnan but up some sites to help us research the poppy. In math we worked on our pattern stories again. If you are not done, you need to bring it home to work on it so it is done by Friday. In social studies, we worked on our needs and wants. Robert picked one million phones and other people picked things like x-boxes and air pods.  Class picture day is on October 30th. Peel, peel went the stickers as Yasmine and Zachary got their stickers for getting mystery mess. Today we practiced our spelling words by doing a blind writing sort with a partner. One person had to pick a word out of the pile and the other person would have to write it down on their white board. If they got it right, they got a point. In science, we got a pipe cleaner and made it into a shape and put it in a cup of hot water. Then we stirred in some borax. Now we have to wait 24 hours and hopefully it will turn it in to crystals! We had gym outside today because of the election. Tap, tap went our fingers on the iPads as we did Scratch Jr. or Green Screen. In genius hour we did Scratch Jr. and Green Screen. To do green screen you take a picture of someone in front of the green screen and then you go on to safari and search the background you want. You could do pictures or videos. In language arts we looked at the poppy again and we read a poem about the poppy that was made a long time ago. It was called 'In Flanders Fields'. We took a special pen and underlined the words we didn't know, then we use the dictionary app to look up the words and find out what they mean. We had an assembly today put on by the grade twos. It was all about fall and gratitude. Have an amazing weekend! Gym will be outside on Monday because of the election so please dress for the weather! Fun lunch is next Thursday, please order by Saturday at midnight

Buddy Writing

Scratch, scratch, scratch went the pencils on the paper. In buddy writing, some people were writing a story together and other people were helping one another to make their writing better. Jordan and Merrick went to help in the Kindergarten class at this time. In social studies we went to Mrs. Nayyar's class. We had a piece of paper with a compass on it and we had to follow the directions like go northwest to create a mystery picture. One was a pig and the other was a fish. In gym, we were playing not in my yard. The point of the game is to get the ball in the other peoples buckets. Ms. Brady made it even harder by adding two challenges: a hula hoop and a bowling pin. In language arts we talked more about the poppy and read a book about the poppy and soldiers. Our Remembrance Day Ceremony is on November 8th in the morning, the time is being confirmed. Parents are welcome. Fun lunch orders are due Saturday by midnight school pictures went home today

Mineral Posters

Image
Flip, flip went the pages of Kira's science book. Some of us finished working on our posters for science in our visual journal. The posters are advertisements for products made from rocks and minerals like toothpaste, bunk beds, matches, casts and many more.  Some people even came up with a jingle for their product! In gym, we practiced rolling a ball by trying to knock down each others pins. We were allowed to shuffle in front of our pins to try and protect them.  Tomorrow we are going to shuffle in front of our pin so no one can knock it over. Tomorrow anyone can try to knock it over. In word work, we used our final page in our adjective book to think of different words for good. Some people came up with over 45 different words! In math, we did our first game of Kahoots.
