Green Screen Again

"Ok, class take your picture in front of the green screen!" exclaimed Ms. Fagnan. In word work, we used the green screen to take pictures of our idioms. We had to show both the literal and the actual meaning. Can you guess some of the idioms below? In gym, we played a game were we had to verse someone and whoever got to eleven points first would win. It was a basketball game. Our buddies had to try to block the ball from going into the net and if you did get it in the net you got two points. In language arts we continued our debate and began some persuasive writing about our opinions. In math, we continued with area and perimeter. We have started planning our domains for our zoo project! 😸🙉 Field trip is next Wednesday Spelling quiz is tomorrow Friday is a PD day Tomorrow is fun lunch for those who ordered Have a great rest of your day

In gym, we had another substitute teacher and we played fairy godmother/father tag, hotdog tag and revenge tag. In language arts we were having a debate about whether or not we thought we should start school 15 minutes earlier and have an extra morning recess or keep it the same. We will continue our debate tomorrow. Scratch, scratch went the pencils in room 15 as we were writing our new spelling words. We talked about the long I and the letter combinations that make it say its name like: igh, ie, y and i_e. In gym, we had a substitute teacher named Ms. Lowe and we played tag games. We played revenge tag, fairy godmother/godfather tag and tent tag. In math, we were working at grade four level because we were learning area today and that's a grade four idea but Ms. Fagnan thought we could handle it. First we had to find the perimeter and then find the area of a shape. To find the area, we had to multiply the top number and the number at the left side or length x width. We did great! If you would like to volunteer for the field trip, please e-mail Ms Fagnan. We have room for one more volunteer! Next Wednesday is our field trip No school on Friday as it is a PD day New spelling words:  List one: child, drive, flight, July and replied List two: pioneer, quiet, midnight, describe, identif...

We went on to the notices section of our blog and played our first game, even though it was the second game on the list, and then once we finished it we could play the second game. In gym, we played a new warm-up game. You and your partner would lay across from each other and Ms. Brady gave us a number. If she called out your number you would have to race your partner around the line. In math, we were making robots in our visual journals. We had to use a ruler and measure the sides and then add them up to find the perimeter. Book orders are due tomorrow It's getting warmer but please still dress warm! There is still lots of snow out there and it is slushy Have a great rest of your day

"We are starting shooting today" explained Ms. Brady while we were in gym. We started to learn shooting in basketball today and our warm-up game was you had to shuffle around the outside of the gym with music and when the music stopped you would go to a corner and then someone would roll a dice. Retry with Popsicle sticks and Plasticine

Smoosh, smoosh, smoosh went the plasticine as the kids squished it. Today in science, we did the same thing as last time. Last time we had to make structures out of plasticine and popsicle sticks. This time we used our knowledge of strong shapes and the use of triangles to make them stronger. In gym, we played monkey in the middle. Our warm up game was were we had to shuffle while the music was on and when it stopped we had to run to a corner. Then Ms. Brady would roll the die and whatever number it landed on that corner had to go to the middle. In word work, we did idioms. In math, we had centers. We have to design a zoo. Ms. Fagnan gave us specific measurements for the domains. In science, we got to redo our structures using popsicle sticks and plasticine and it had to be as tall as one popsicle stick. In music, we were singing count on me and true colors. The music teacher might pick someone to do a solo for true colors.   Field trip forms went home today, please sign and return. Our trip is to Glenbow Museum on February 5th. Building Designs

Image
"Ok class, we are going to build a structure out of popsicle sticks and plasticine" Ms. Fagnan told the class. In science, Ms. Fagnan told us to make a structure in groups to see which one could hold the most chapter books. Ms. Fagnan wanted one that was high enough, strong and stable, and didn't use too many materials. We are going to get to try again next science. In gym, we played dribbling games. One of the games was where there were pirates and they stole the ball from you and then you became a pirate and had to try and steal the ball from some else. At the end of gym we played another game where there were pirates and when they stole the ball from you, you would put your ball away and become a pirate. In math, we worked on our math word problems and we finished them. When we solved them we had to show how we solved them and then give it to the teacher. It is going to get really, really cold in the upcoming week so dress warm! Spelling quiz is on Friday, it is o...

Different Characteristics

"We are going to do different characteristics" Ms. Fagnan told the class. Today in language arts we continued working on our New Years resolutions. On the inside of our flaps we put four words that we hoped that people would say about our personalities and that we wanted to focus on for the year. In social studies, we did 20 facts about Peru. We would look at a book and find facts. In math, we worked on division math problems. The problems were about Zarif, Yasmine and Zaxari. In gym, we played basketball again and focused on dribbling. Dress for the weather, it is supposed to get very cold.  Monday is a PD day, there is no school for students Enjoy the rest of your day!

New Science Unit

Scratch, scratch, scratch went our pencils and paper as we wrote the title page with 10 ideas on it that were about testing materials and designs. We also wrote a question we had about our new unit. Today in gym, we played basketball. We practiced dribbling in our own spot and passing hands. The first time we did it, we didn't look up and just looked at the ball. The second time we did it Ms. Brady gave us three goals, one was to look up while we dribbled. In language arts, we made New Year's resolution. We folded up a piece a paper to make a little surprise envelope and wrote our resolutions inside. Then we glued it in to our visual journals.  The spelling quiz words for the week are: List one: can't, wasn't, I'm, don't, isn't List two: mathematics, multiplication, division, product and quotient There will only be 5 words this week due to the break Happy New Year!
