Good morning room 15! The Calgary Public Library has cancelled it 'Keeping the Home Language Alive' seminar but below you can find some great links on activities you can to do to help out your child if they are an English Language Learner. These are also great activities for all families to do, so check it out! I hope everyone is staying healthy and active! What an interesting part of history this is going to be, my 93 year old grandma has never even seen anything like it. You are going to want to look back at this time and remember it. Start a journal! Write about your day, how you are feeling and what did you and your family do? What's the same about your day and what is different? You are going to look back many years from now on this, how great would it be to read what your 8/9 year old self was thinking. Spring break is about to begin, enjoy your family and free time. Hi Everyone! I hope you are all continuing to stay safe and healthy. I know that for many this is a stressful time and we all have many unanswered questions and worries. Many children feel anxious about what is happening and are unsure about what COVID-19 is exactly and what we can do to help reduce the spread. Below you will find some great resources for talking to your kids about COVID-19. These resources will help them better understand what is going on in our world right now and how they can do small things (like hand washing) to help.  I miss you all so much! Hi Grade Three Families, Thank you so much for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time!  I wanted to touch base and let you know that I MISS you so much!  It is so weird being in the classroom without you and your smiling faces!  It is so quiet!  Who would have ever thought I would be the noise...lol At this point, we are still waiting on how to move forward with Learning at Home from CBE Leadership and Alberta Learning.  Please take this time to go for a walk, bake, play a game, color and just be together as a family!  I hope to see you all again soon 😁😁 All the best, Ms. Fagnan

"We are not going to have spelling today because we don't have as many students as we usually do" announced Ms. Fagnan. Today in spelling we did not have our quiz because lots of kids we away. We got to go on the chromebooks and play prodigy or Math 3 Under the Sea instead. In class we just had 10 kids here! It was also an indoor recess because it was so cold out. We had genius hour today but some kids are not going to get to do it next time because they don't help clean up afterwards. Bang, bang, bang went room 15 while they were drumming. In music, we were drumming and Mrs. Cook was telling us a story about David Chow. She thought he was from China but he was from Africa. He is a master drummer and his dad taught him how to drum. In math, we were doing our centers. In virtues, we picked a shape and started filling it with ways you could show kindness. "We are going to do blog before lunch because I have an appointment" Ms. Fagnan announced. In the morning Ms. Fagnan told us she has an appointment so Ms. Brinson will be here this afternoon. In language arts we brought in an item for home and we had to write 3-4 clues in our books to help others guess our items. Then we read our clues and people had to try to infer our items. A lot of people stumped us! In word work, we are going to be finishing publishing our poems.  Wear math day is tomorrow! Spelling quiz is on Friday, if you are looking for the words they were added to the March 9th blog :) Next Tuesday at 1pm, we are going to be doing clay projects. "We are going to switch the spelling and silent reading and writing with one another" announced Ms. Fagnan. Today we had a switch-a-roo and we switched reading and writing with getting our spelling words because we had a fire drill. This was the shortest fire drill we ever had! At least it felt that way 🚒🔥. In gym, we got the big equipment and we are going to continue doing this until spring break. In science, we were continuing to make Thelma's, Bob's and Snicker's domains. In math, some of us worked on finishing our review. If you were finished, you could work on the riddles. The community firefighter reminded us today to make sure to make a plan with your family incase there is a fire. You should have a meeting spot, know where to go and what to do! Bring a mystery item (something that is NOT important or expensive!) for language arts tomorrow and Wednesday. Be creative and try to stump the class with what you bring. "Yay! It's genius hour" The kids in rooms 15 and 16 yelled. In genius hour we crafted our projects again. In language arts, Ms. Fagnan really wanted us to finish our zoo paragraphs. Today in spelling, we did our spelling quiz. Book orders came in today for those that ordered Wear math day is next Thursday 

"Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree.." sang room 15. In music we sang the kookaburra song and we played ukuleles and the orf instruments. Today we had a lockdown practice after social studies and we missed word work. We were all really quiet and waited really patiently for the police officer to come and release us. In social studies we read about India and had to answer questions about India. We had to read from a piece of paper to find the answers. It was kind of like having a cheat sheet. In language arts, we worked on our persuasive writing about zoos. If you were done you could have some free time on the computer. If you would like to bring things for our zoo projects you can- but don't panic! Scribble, scribble, scribble as we used a pencil to draw the domains. In science we worked on designing Thelma's, Bob's and Snicker's domains. Today we had a mix-up day so we did math first. In math we did a review of questions from all the way back to the beginning of the year to see if we remembered how to do them. In gym, we were doing falls and safety landings to learn how to protect us from falling and hurting ourselves when we jump.  At lunch, we ate lots and we forgot to bring the buckets. Spelling quiz is on Friday If you would like to bring stuff for our domains it would be greatly appreciated! Please only bring in stuff you already have but no longer need. Gymnastics will run this week and next. Please wear long hair up, no bracelets or long earrings

Scratch, scratch went the pencil crayons on the paper. In social studies we continued coloring our maps of India. In music, we practiced the song believer on ukuleles again. In gym, we did our gymnastics monopoly again and we would roll the die and move that many spaces. After we would look under the dot and do the move that it said for 10 seconds. If we landed on one with nothing under it we had to go to the middle and do a card from there. In word work, we started working on our acrostic poems. In math, we played math games on the computer. It was a fish game for 2-D and 3-D shapes in geometry.  If you want to play the math game again it is on the blog under notices We are going to begin building our domains soon, if you have any cardboard or other materials (buttons, fabric scraps etc.)  at home you no longer need please bring them in :) 

"We are working on the short, i, o, u, a and e this week on our spelling quiz" announced Ms. Fagnan. Today in spelling we got our new words. Kareem says make sure you practice! In science, we drew Ruby's domain and what we wanted it to look like. Some people got their science book and read their facts about elephants so they knew what to put in. In gym, we started gymnastics. We played a board game called monopoly with a gymnastics theme. Ms. Brady made it herself! In language arts we used the computers to publish our if we should or should not have zoos paragraphs. Some of us were just on the editing or feedback stage and some of us are all done!
